(3-6) A Study on the Robot¡¯s role for Improvement for Children with Austic Spectrum Disorder and Emotional and Behavioral Disorder
<Abstract>
The articles using robot for improvement for children with autistic spectrum disorder and emotional and behavioral disorder have published 12 years ago in international journal, and it¡¯s true for 7 years ago in domestic journal. The most of previous researches had started from field of technology, however, Educational and therapeutic researches has been publiched several years ago.
This study was to examie the robot¡¯s role for improvement for chidlren with ASD and EBD through review of experimental studies. We collected data of 33 articles having keyward; autism, social skill, emotional behavioral disorder, robot etc. from Jan. 2001 to Dec. 2013. The category of robot¡¯s role has 3 domains; Tool for intervention, Social mediator, social agent. the type and frame of this study follows the articles of Dautenhahn(2003) and Cabibihan et al.(2013). The result of this study has 3 domains in robot¡¯s role. First, there was ¡®Tool for intervention¡¯ of robot¡¯s role. The percent of robot¡¯s role shows 13% in 2001, 4% in 2003, 2005, and 2009. 9% in 2007 in international researches, 15% in 2009, 40% in 2010, 12% in 2011, 15% in 2012 in domestic researches.
Next, there was ¡®Social mediator¡¯ of robot¡¯s role. The percent of robot¡¯s role shows 4% in 2005, 2007 and 2013. 9% in 2010, 2012 in intenational, 3% in 2012, and 9% in 2013 in domestic. Last, the percent of robot¡¯s role ¡®Social agent¡¯ shows 4% in 2007, 2010 and 2011, 13% in 2013 in international, 3% in 2012, 9% in 2013 in domestic. In conclusion, The role of robot has changed from tool for intervention to social agent in international, compared to domestic. This situation seems to depend on how to improve for social skills and what social skill is important and worth beyond technical issues.
