[NSTA] International Science Education Day.¡±

Dear Colleague:

NSTA has decreed Thursday, April 6, 2006 as ¡°NSTA International Science Education Day.¡± We have scheduled numerous opportunities for international visitors to network together and to interact with science educators from various cultures, including those from North America.

Co-sponsored with the International Council of Associations for Science Education (ICASE), NSTA¡¯s International Day will commence with a panel of leading international educators focusing on professional development. This opening session will be followed by concurrent sessions on elementary, secondary and higher education. A full complement of papers presented in poster session will occur just prior to the concluding NSTA International Luncheon. In addition, all international visitors are cordially invited to attend the NSTA sponsored international reception in the President¡¯s Suite on Wednesday evening, April 5.

The International Day assembly recognizes NSTA¡¯s increased emphasis on international collaboration in science education. This increased emphasis is a direct result of the recent acceptance of an important task force report calling for improved services to our international colleagues. On behalf of NSTA and ICASE, we look forward to your participation in this important assembly of science educators. A Conference Proposal Form follows this letter.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael J. Padilla
President, NSTA 2005-06
