On Teachers' session in ICPE 2006 Tokyo
Dear Professor Pak,
This is Jumpei Ryu, a member of the program committee of the ICPE conference 2006 (Tokyo).
I would like to discuss on the preparation of the school teacher's session in the conference, and would like to ask you some act.
We hope to organise international school teachers' session with Prof. Pietrocola as an organiser, to facilitate mutual understanding of teachers from 5 continents and hopefully put the basis for future network collaboration of physics teachers. ( We heard this idea was discussed in the
last meeting of ICPE committee by Prof. Pietrocola.)
For the session, we have contacted with Prof. Pietrocola, and his proposal is as below.
For the second subject, concerning the idea to bring teachers from each country together in Tokyo, I think we must have to consider the possibility to ask basic physics teacher to contribute to the conference. These teachers must propose abstracts concerning regional experiences in teaching physics with innovative activities (like hands on activities, learning activities and other). The dead line for this kind of contribution must be a little bite longer than the other (for example, 30th may). After having selected the abstracts
for presentation in a poster session, we can write letters supporting these teachers to get financial support from Unesco, ICPE , national physical societies and other. If we can have some contributions from teachers from each continent in the conference, it would be very good!
Accepting this idea, we decided to postpone the deadline for abstracts for teacher's presentation to the 30th May and ask you to encourage and support local teachers'participation to the conference as his proposal.
We know it may not be so easy to do all these things in a short time, but we hope to get the idea of teacher's session started in this conference, however modest it may be. We think many Japanese teachers will participate the conference. Please bring teachers from your country and continent and let them meet Japanese counterparts.
Please accept my apology for not so well English.
Sincerely yours,
Jumpei Ryu <jpryu@mars.dti.ne.jp>
